robert pattinson for edward cullen, official
Be there till the end of time

The formal announcement is up:

SLATED TO PLAY THE ONE AND ONLY EDWARD CULLEN IN THE UPCOMING TWILIGHT MOVIE IS

(drumroll please)

ROBERT PATTINSON aka Cedric Diggory

of Harry Potter & The Goblet Of Fire fame.

The Chosen Edward

What a truly sad anti-climax. I was hoping and praying and crossing my fingers for Gaspard Ulliel, because despite being French, the fine features and pale pallor fit my mental interpretation of Edward Cullen perfectly. I mean, Cedric Diggory? Fuck! As much as i loved him back when GOF came out (i'm a huge, huge sucker for prettyboys), he still remains highly unsuited for the character of Edward Cullen.

The Ideal Edward

We're talking about Edward Cullen, for goodness sake. Edward Cullen. I cannot put anymore emphasis, but Robert Pattinson for Edward Cullen??!

Pfft. Robert Pattinson may not exactly have showcased his acting talent to its fullest potential, given the limited amount of screen time he was allowed in GOF, but seriously, i think the HP movies have mostly gone to fucking ruin, the massacre that is the Order of the Phoenix being the latest on the list. Prisoner of Azkaban was the first destroyed.

But enough about Potter films here. Ughh.

Edward Cullen!

Oh god, i cannot express my growing indignance at this latest development in a more belligerent manner. I am literally glowering at the monitor as i type. Shit, Edward Cullen going to ruins? Ohh, the horror.

The Ideal Jacob

Okay, okay, trying to calm down now. Stephenie Meyer, the genius author of the Twilight trilogy, did mention briefly that Steven Strait with long hair would be her perfect Jacob Black, and i cannot agree more. He would suit the role perfectly, and i can see the Jacob in my head mould to fit him. Besides, i was becoming more pro-Jacob after the Italy episode, and spent the entire Eclipse rooting for him.

Kirsten Stewart has already been signed to play Bella, yes, yes, another disappointment. I haven't seen her in action, but the physical image alone doesn't fit. Although protesting vehemently to suggestions of Emily Browning at first, i'm begining to grow on that idea. Pity, shame.

There are other casting toss-ups on Stephenie Meyer's site, and if you're a true fan of the stunning trilogy, go check them out. Some, though the last person you would actually dream of to play certain characters, are actually pretty compatible. I absolutely loved the idea of Olivia Wilde (Alex, from The OC 2) for Rosalie, she's the closest you can come to fitting the bill perfectly. In my opinion, Chris Evans would make the perfect Emmett. Jasper would be interesting to cast.

One of the last few posts of the year. Am flying off to Japan/Shanghai early tomorrow morning, the parentals are nagging like crazy. Packing's a bitch, and i still need to load a bunch of songs into my player for those long-haul coach rides we've been told to expect? Not too sure, but you'll hear from me when i get back, shortly before Christmas.

Yes, i'll be missing Chelsea vs Arsenal, i know, i knoww. I don't have my money on any of them, but i do hope Chelsea catches up with ManU, at least reclaim some of the faith i lost in them. Though my ideal finale to this season would be Arsenal for the Premiership and Chelsea for the Champions League.

Oh, and without forgetting, the cousin won bronze in Men's Gymnastics at the SEA Games, so congrats to him.

More Twilight stuff when i get back, their all a bitch to upload, and i'm running outta time.

Au revoir (:
